AK Geothermal is a geoscientific consulting firm specializing in geothermal energy development. AK Geothermal was founded in 2009 by Amanda Kolker. After working as a geologist on several geothermal projects in Alaska, most notably the Chena Hot Springs geothermal project, Dr. Kolker launched AK Geothermal to fill the need for reliable, trustworthy geothermal resource assessment services in Alaska and in the Western United States .Dr. Kolker is currently the Progect Manager for the Akutan Geothermal Development Project, in Alaska's Aleutian Islands.

AK Geothermal’s approach to geothermal resource assessment is integrative and holistic, with an emphasis on synthesis, suitability, and sustainability. AK Geothermal strongly believes that when utilized intelligently, geothermal energy is a clean, safe, and sustainable energy source. By providing sound geological resource assessment in combination with equal consideration of non-technical factors (such as cultural, socio-political, and economic), AK Geothermal aims to bring clarity and candor to geothermal projects in Alaska and the Western United States. Dr. Amanda Kolker received her Ph.D. in Geology from The University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2008. Her dissertation work was an integrated assessment of geothermal resources in Alaska, and their potential for producing sustainable energy for remote communities.
